Active Kids ambassador
After another victorious Paralympic Games at Rio, we’d like to say a big well done and welcome back to Ellie Simmonds OBE, who returns as an Active Kids ambassador for the seventh year running.
With four gold medals already under her belt, she now adds another Rio gold to the total, along with ten world records and, MBE and OBE honours.
Ellie was only 13 when she won her first Paralympic medal before going on to become the youngest winner of the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2008, and then the youngest recipient of an MBE at the age of 14.
We think everyone will agree that she’s undoubtedly the perfect role model for all kids and adults.
“I joined Active Kids a year after competing at the Beijing Paralympic Games. Not only have I benefited first-hand from their support, but I’ve also seen just how enthusiastic kids are about sport. It’s so important that kids learn to lead healthier lives from as early on as possible. And if I can help them achieve that, then it’s another gold for me”
